Assistant Plant Manager - Dafoe, SK
The Assistant Manager will work directly with the Operations Manager to organize and execute the operations of a high volume food grain handling facility. The employee will possess a hands-on approach to employee and operations management.
Duties and responsibilities
Create weekly planning schedules which consider the needs of the cargo planning team, while ensuring the proper flow of procurement, processing and shipping.
Oversees inventory management.
Assist with management of the teams involved with receiving, handling, cleaning, storage, loading and shipping of grain
Assist in staff management, training, and development, while ensuring health and safety of all.
Maintain, train, and improve upon policies and procedures which outline BroadGrain’s occupational health and safety, food safety, HACCP, and other regulatory programs.
Communicate with maintenance and production staff to ensure an efficient balance between production and preventative maintenance requirements.
Ensure quality specifications of shipments meet the customers’ expectations. Investigate any customer concerns and identify opportunities for improvement.
Learns and understands the flow of all materials, incoming and outgoing.
Recommends measures to improve product flow, equipment performance, and quality of service.
Participate in the planning of operational budgets and capital improvements.
Build and maintain beneficial relationships with producers, regulatory agencies, and other third party organizations.
Minimum 5 years of experience in the agricultural sector, with a strong understanding of the operations of a grain handling facility.
Demonstrated computer abilities, particularly with Microsoft office suite.
Ability to research and solve problems with proper decision making skills.
Understands bulk material handling equipment.
Possesses a solid understanding of programs such as HACCP, ISO/FSSC22000, and Occupational Health and Safety.
Ability to work with many different departments, and with all levels of management and staff to assist everyone in achieving their goals.
Self-motivated with a high level of initiative.
Strong people management skill, demonstrating a hands-on leadership style.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts in a noisy, dusty environment, be exposed to precarious heights, and exposure to outside weather conditions.
The employee must be able to climb fixed ladders on a regular basis, repeatedly handle heavy objects, and be actively mobile to supervise and work in various locations on site.
The Assistant Manager will be involved in the supervision of all staff on site, along with possible third party contractors.
