Lentils

The Lentil is an edible pulse grown for its lens-shaped seeds. Containing roughly 30% protein, lentils are an essential source of inexpensive protein for many parts of the world. Saskatchewan, the location of BroadGrain’s processing facilities, is the most important producing region of Canada, and one of the top lentil exporters in the world. Lentils vary in size and color, ranging from red-orange to green, brown and black. Red Lentils are used in many traditional dishes in the countries of the Indian subcontinent, Middle East, Mediterranean and North Africa, while Green Lentils are widely consumed in Central and South America, the Mediterranean, and North Africa.
